GMS Expands Relocation Support to and from Europe, the Middle East and Africa

New regional resources cover U.S. employees relocating into EMEA and international talent moving from EMEA into the United States.

SCOTTSDALE, AZ, UNITED STATES, September 29, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Global Mobility Solutions (GMS), a corporate relocation and workforce mobility provider, has introduced dedicated relocation resources for companies moving employees between the United States and Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA). The resources cover both directions of travel: U.S. employees sent on assignment abroad, and international talent relocating from EMEA into the U.S.

Moving Employees from the U.S. into Europe

Europe presents a challenge that many relocation programs underestimate. EU freedom of movement simplifies transfers for EU citizens, but it does not extend to non-EU nationals, non-EU spouses or UK employees relocating after Brexit. Tax equalization, social security agreements and visa sponsorship rules also vary from one country to the next, even between neighboring markets. GMS's corporate relocation services in Europe cover immigration coordination, cross-border household goods shipment, destination services and group moves for companies opening or expanding European offices.

Moving Employees into the Middle East and Africa

The Middle East and Africa combine established expat hubs with markets where relocation infrastructure is still developing. The UAE and Saudi Arabia operate employer-sponsored visa systems, and Saudi Arabia's Nitaqat program ties visa approvals to a company's ratio of Saudi to foreign employees. Across much of Sub-Saharan Africa, visa processing, banking access and housing markets are less predictable. GMS's relocation support for the Middle East and Africa is built around sponsorship requirements and destination services in hubs including Dubai, Riyadh and Johannesburg.

Bringing EMEA Talent into the United States

Relocation also runs in the other direction. Companies transferring a manager from a London office or hiring an engineer from Germany face U.S. immigration requirements, most often through intracompany transferee (L-1) or specialty occupation (H-1B) visas, each with its own sponsorship steps and timelines. Once the visa is approved, arriving employees often have no U.S. credit history, no Social Security number and no driver's license, which can slow down leasing a home, opening a bank account and settling a family. GMS pairs immigration coordination with its U.S. and Canadian relocation services, including home finding, school search and settling-in support for employees and families arriving from abroad.

A Common Thread: Third-Country Nationals

Across these regions, a high share of moves involve third-country nationals, employees who are citizens of neither the host country nor the company's home country. These assignments affect tax residency, benefits and which labor protections apply, and they fall outside what a standard home-to-host relocation policy is designed to handle.

"Relocation now runs in both directions. Whether a company is sending an engineer to Frankfurt or bringing a manager from Dubai to the U.S., the planning has to start before the offer goes out," said Kelly Rabbitts, CRP, GMS, Executive Vice President and Chief Revenue Officer of Global Mobility Solutions.

GMS applies its dual-bid supplier model in every region it serves, giving clients visibility into cost and service quality in markets where they may not have an existing presence. GMS was ranked #2 among Overall Enterprise Leaders in HRO Today's 2026 Baker's Dozen Customer Satisfaction Ratings for Relocation.
